Hot Chocolate Drink | 8 Recipe Ideas

Eight Ways To Shake Up Your Hot Chocolate Drink
Hello Girls....

I've got an exciting blog post for you today because am going to be sharing with you eight delicious ideas for your hot chocolate drink. Hot chocolate is one of my favorite winter drinks and i always seem to drink a lot of it this time of year and what I've realized over time is that it gets pretty bland and boring just drinking the same hot chocolate with no new flavors, different ingredients and fun toppings.

So I've decided to share with you eight amazing recipes i found online, which i thought could shake up the taste of your hot chocolate drink and show you how to take this classic winter drink to whole new levels. I hope this will inspire you to get creative with not just your hot chocolate drinks but with all your hot winter beverages.

Eight Fun & Delicious Recipe Ideas:

1) Whipped Hot Chocolate: *Creamy*
1/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon white sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons sweetened cocoa powder
1 /4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 /4 pinch salt
1 /2 (1 ounce) square semisweet baking chocolate, broken into pieces
1/3 cup heavy cream

Microwave the cup of milk until you feel that it's hot enough to work with. Mix in the sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt until dissolved. Stir in the chocolate until melted. Beat the heavy cream in a small mixing bowl until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the hot chocolate, finish off with a chocolate flake and by sprinkling some chocolate powder on top.

2) Orange Zest: Carve three 2-inch long strips of orange rind (the skin) and let them steep in your drink for a while before tasting. You could also top it off with whipped cream and why not sprinkle on a couple tiny strips of orange rind on top. That citrus flavor is a delight.

3) Homemade Banana Hot Chocolate: *Fruity*
1 ripe banana
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 ½ teaspoons sugar
2 cups whole milk or cream

Combine all ingredients in microwave safe bowl. Microwave on medium heat for three minutes or until heated thoroughly. Dump the contents of the bowl into a blender and mix until the chunks of banana are smooth. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy this treat reminiscent of a chocolate dipped banana.

4) Dark or White Chocolate Shavings: Dig out your favorite chocolate bar out of your bag and grab a grater. Sprinkle a few shreds of the real deal into your drink or on top of the whipped cream, this can only make things more heavenly for you.

5) Candy Cane Cocoa: *Minty*
1 cup milk
3/4 (1 ounce) square semisweet chocolate, chopped
1 peppermint candy cane crushed
1/4 cup whipped cream
1 small peppermint candy cane

Heat the cup of milk until hot, but not boiling. Mix in the chocolate and the crushed peppermint candy until melted and smooth. Pour the hot cocoa into the mug and garnish with whipped cream. Then add a candy cane stirring stick and top off by sprinkling some crushed peppermint candy on top. The rich flavor of chocolate combines so well with peppermint. This is the perfect drink to sip.

6)Ice cream: It may sound weird to put something cold in your hot cocoa, but a scoop of ice cream makes it really creamy and thick. Make sure your hot chocolate is as hot as you can get it without allowing it to boil, and pop in a scoop of your favorite ice cream and top of with some tasty sprinkles.

 7) Mexican Hot Chocolate: *Spicy*
1 heaping tablespoon milk chocolate chips
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch chili powder
1 pouch instant hot chocolate mix

Combine all ingredients into a mug and stir in boiling water. You can substitute milk for the boiling water to make this recipe extra creamy. Add a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle some cinnamon on top and this might be your new favorite hot chocolate recipe. Go on an give this spicy twist on the classic winter drink a try, don't be afraid its only a pinch of chili powder.

8) Caramel: A tablespoon of caramel sauce can do wonders for hot chocolate. Spoon in your favorite brand and give it a good stir right before you take your first sip.You could also try adding half a cup of caramel sauce with half a cup of hot chocolate milk to get a more sweeter caramel taste.

Go On & Put A Flavorful Spin On Your Hot Chocolate Drink

Note: All these recipe ideas can easily be altered to your preference/liking so don't feel like you have to copy the recipes listed entirely but rather be inspired and take some ideas from it to put a flavorful spin on your hot chocolate drink. At the end of the day it's all about trying something new and having fun experimenting with different ingredients, fun toppings and new flavors.
